I think that it was very interesting how Nathan studied the international students and their feelings on American students. International students may not feel at home here when students don't even take the time to listen to their answer when they ask "How are you?". American students can be very ignorant and so caught up in their own day. International students may think that it's weird how at the age of 18 we are out on our own at college when in other countries they would still be living at home and would be more connected to family. Americans are taught that once we reach a certain age we are supposed to move out and become more independent where in international cultures they seem to be more family oriented and work more as a system. A system of the family where everyone helps everyone else out. Something else that stuck out at me was that international students didn't understand why Americans would go out to get drunk where they would go out and casually drink. This may have something to do with the drinking age in other countries is age 18 so it's normal to go out and leisurely drink but here we can't do that so that's probably where the drinking until your drunk comes from. I agree with the statement that professors don't seem to prepare as much. Some more than others are responsible for this but I've come across my share of teachers that just don't seem to of put any thought what so ever into what they were going to teach that class. I also agree with what the international student noticed that students don't always do their assignments because they're too worried about the social aspect of college. This is definitely seen in a lot of college students. I think that it is only fair to try and take time to listen and understand international students feelings when they are so far away from home, we could maybe even learn something while they're learning about us. They came to this country to learn more about our culture and do we want them going back saying that we're lazy and ignorant...probably not!
